Van Visit 2.0

I spent the day cruisin Vancouver solo by bicycle(Thanks to Cory). It's the best way to check out a new city. The weather was kind of iffy so it kept a lot of popularized places rather quite, which was great for me. I probably rode for about 5 hours and countless km's getting to where I wanted to go as well as getting lost a few times. Thanks to Ben Turner for letting me crash at his awesome place downtown. After riding all day, I decided to surprise my Aunt at her hotel who is visiting Van for a conference. We met up with Ben Turner later and went to dinner at the Flying Pig in Yale Town for super good eats. Heading back up to Whistler with my Aunt tomorrow.

Vancouver Visit

I hitched down to Vancouver Saturday night to hang out with the awesome Cory Granfield. It only took me two rides and about two hours again...getting pretty lucky with the hitch-hiking. Anyway, I show up to Cory's house around nine and he offers to take me to one of three parties...motorcycle party, tattoo party, or fixie race and possible late night punk rock show. What ensued was a really rad night of drinking, bike riding, new people, bike riding and too many good times. We ended up doing it all. And actually, we showed up to the punk rock venue at around 2:30 in the morning and there wasn't much of a crowd so we hung out for a short bit and headed home. My hand was pretty beat by this point. The next day we obviously slept in a bit before heading out for breakfast and crabbing with Ben Turner and Cory's Lady Friend Tarrin. We went to a pier in Jericho Park in Kitsilano near UBC to utilize Cory's crab trap. Spent a couple hours hanging and caught one large delicious crab. When all was said and done, we had a team dinner at Cory's house.

Motorcycles and rock n' roll.

Cory's good friend Arlin's shop was having their first anniversary party.

Sick Again

Having way to much fun on the regs has proven to break me down every now and then rendering me useless to the outside world. I have somehow even managed to not go up the hill for the third day in a row today. Super bummer town, but it could be worse. On a lighter note, I woke up and looked outside to see parts of what looks like what used to be some sort of garden. So I proceeded to hop out of bed, make some tea and toast and I headed out there to see what I'll have to work with. Pulled some dead plants, found some dormant raspberry bushes as well as dormant strawberries, and felt soil for the first time in a long while. It was nice. It's cool to be kind of out of my element with gardening up here with the snow and what not. There's new knowledge to be gained and new skills to be acquired. I'm pretty excited to work with my hands and the soil again.

I'm going to have to clear this snow in the next few days to start working the soil.

On the two terraced rock levels and under the leaf litter, strawberry plants are showing signs of green.

So this looks like the main gardening area. Not much to look at, but that will soon change. I'll probably end up expanding big time.

Double Pow Days

We got mass amounts of snow the last few days making for some good riding. I went up with Andrea and Anthony for some amazing Glacier Face Laps with no lift line-up yesterday. The snow was super deep, fresh and it kept falling all day. So good. Today was a whole different story. I woke up early to a bright blue sky and headed to the mountain for an early shred before work. I ended up riding hard, then going straight to work for a few hours, only to go back up and ride till the mountain closed. I feel pretty lucky right about now.
